After the House Church Conference in Chicago, I spent some time with two good pastors who are not part of house church ministry network. I have known one of them for many years and the other one I just met through the first one. They are both very humble and down to earth. They both preach very well with good content and delivery. They have good relationships with most of their congregation members. Their wives are also very appreciated by their members because they are both committed to church ministry and serve faithfully and sacrificially without becoming a stumbling ...

I used to get stressed when I was looking for the “Perfect” speaker for a revival. As your pastor who is responsible for your spiritual growth, I believe that finding just the right speaker for the congregation is crucial. Since SBC has only two revivals per year, it was my sincere desire to invite a “great” speaker who could feed SBC as they had never experienced before.
This desire led me to “famed” speakers. However, I realized that it is not easy to find a speaker who is aligned with the spirit of house church among those speakers. When I heard ...

With today's Sunday corporate worship service, this year's revival meeting will come to an end. As I reflect on the revival, four blessings are coming to my mind.
First is servant-leadership. In order to make this revival meeting come to fruition even as an event, not a small number of people had to serve starting from several months prior to this weekend. This event falls under our Maturity Team. Therefore, the team members met, prayed and prepared well before the event and when the revival meeting began, they superbly executed every little detail so that things will ...

"SBC does not accept membership registration of believers." This statement expresses the key spirit and policy of SBC which is to concentrate on evangelism and discipleship. In the present age when churches do not get much respect, the spirit to return to the church's original mission is very crucial. Many SBC members say these words often, and inadvertently, because of our lack of care, this seems to cause many misunderstandings and undesirable side effects.
In many cases, this statement can be offensive to others when it is used without a sufficient and convincing ...

New Life is a strange church.
We just finished "Six Day Dinner Fast & Early Morning Prayer." We did this in order to prepare our hearts for the revival meeting that begins from this Thursday. We fasted from 3pm to 6am the following day. We did this for six straight days. We also came out to church at 5am to pray for an hour. We prayed individually for the first 45 minutes and then corporately for the last 15 minutes. We did this also for six straight days. I don't know how many participated in the dinner fast, but on average there were about 70 to 80 people that ...

Many reported to be surprised during service when they heard message speaking directly to them as if pastor knew their situation. A new comer comes to church and is amazed to hear a word which, he feels, is specifically speaking to him. Sometime, someone who is struggling comes to Living Life bible class and hears a message which speaks straight to his heart.
They are amazed at such experiences, but then sometimes there is misunderstanding. A shepherd wanted to give an advice to his house church family but could not dare to say it. The next Sunday, the very ...

Two weeks ago, through Sunday sermon, I mentioned that we need to learn to pray whenever we sense God's leading. We have the tendency to forget the sermon so I want to repeat the message in the pastor's corner.
Throughout history, we can see that when we share God's prompt with others and pray together rather than keeping it to ourselves, it becomes a seed of something great for His purpose. That was the way The Great Awakening in the 20th century started. When America was indifferent toward mission, the flame started from a few students at a small college called ...
