Someone asked this question during Living Life Bible Study. “My parents recently received Jesus and were baptized. When they moved furniture, they followed the rules of feng shui. They said that feng shui was accepted as a branch of science and awards a Ph D…”
It is natural for older generations who have been accustomed to the traditional belief system of Korea to be drawn to such a theory. In fact, my mother was saved in her advanced age, she often mentioned her horoscope and I had to correct her each time. It has been more than 10 years since she was saved and ...

When my wife and I came to America and joined the house church, we were in our thirties. At that time, my shepherd's wife was in her fiftieth and my wife saw something which was difficult for her to understand. Even during house church, the temperature was comfortable, but then she complained that it was too hot and lowered A/C to a freezing point. Then in another moment, she said it was too cold. My wife could not understand such behavior.
On top of that, Mrs. Shepherd who used to be kind toward us as a new young family would suddenly become cross and difficult ...

As I wrote before, we gave much thought to the successor of Pastor Sam Oh since he was leaving. It is not easy to find the right candidate. Especially, due to the unique dimension of sharing with English speaking congregation, our youth ministry has its challenges which in turn demands special qualifications for the ministry worker.
First, the person has to be bilingual. This is important not only to communicate with parents but also to deal with many VIPs who are coming from Korea. Second, the person should know about house church. Since both congregations are involved ...

Once, at a church staff meeting, we read a book titled ‘Unoffendable’ by Brant Hansen. It can mean ‘Someone who would not get offended easily’. According to the author, the reason that we feel hurt and offended and get angry is mainly our choice and in his case, as he choose not to be offended his life and faith walk has started to change a great deal.
He was born a pastor’s son and attended church from childhood and tried to live a life of piety. However, he was rigorous in principle, legalistic and easily offended. One day as he observed himself, he realized ...

I have been made aware that some of you, especially those who have children in our youth group or whose children will eventually be in it, are currently talking about our relationship with the KSC. You are wondering why we are staying and doing youth ministry together with them when we have the means and resources to do it separately. Since New Life began about 20 years ago with just about 20 plus people but now has more than 400 members, it's good to review the history and remind ourselves of the goals and values that are important to us.
Let me share with you several ...

As I shared with you during my message last Sunday, I am very thankful that many of you served in various ways to make this year's House Church Seminar for Pastors a great success. Without you, this couldn't have been possible. So, thank you. I pray that God's abundant blessings will be upon you, your family and work.
God has called us to become a resource church to help other churches that want to learn how to build and restore their churches in the spirit of the New Testament through house church ministry. This is a tremendous blessing and privilege. Not that many ...

The pastor’s seminar which started Tuesday will end today. This time, there were 102 attendees for Korean seminars and 20 for English seminars. For Korean seminar participants, 65 came from north America, 23 came from Korea, and many more came from 13 countries in South America, Europe, Africa and Asia. It is not easy for pastors to find time in the middle of their busy schedule to attend this seminar. So I am very grateful to pastors and missionaries who came. It is my sincere desire that they gained a clear picture for the new testament church.
We had several ...
