Once, at a church staff meeting, we read a book titled ‘Unoffendable’ by Brant Hansen. It can mean ‘Someone who would not get offended easily’. According to the author, the reason that we feel hurt and offended and get angry is mainly our choice and in his case, as he choose not to be offended his life and faith walk has started to change a great deal.
He was born a pastor’s son and attended church from childhood and tried to live a life of piety. However, he was rigorous in principle, legalistic and easily offended. One day as he observed himself, he realized that he was always upset with others. This was his example. As he was driving ...

The pastor’s seminar which started Tuesday will end today. This time, there were 102 attendees for Korean seminars and 20 for English seminars. For Korean seminar participants, 65 came from north America, 23 came from Korea, and many more came from 13 countries in South America, Europe, Africa and Asia. It is not easy for pastors to find time in the middle of their busy schedule to attend this seminar. So I am very grateful to pastors and missionaries who came. It is my sincere desire that they gained a clear picture for the new testament church.
We had several African American pastors for English seminar this time. Previously, American pastors ...

I started to attend church at age 31. Since I seek God desperately, I quickly had encounter with God in a dramatic way. Within 6 months, pastor of my church suggested me to apply to a seminary. At that time, I rather wanted to be a theology professor than a pastor, but I decided to go a seminary anyway and prayed to God to open the door for me. However, God did not open the door for seminary. Instead, He opened a door for work opportunity. I was convinced of God’s direction and gave up of attending seminary.
Once in a while, I think how my life would be like if I went to seminary then. I am sure that it was not very fulfilling. At ...

Sometimes people ask why SBC does not have music revival. Churches of this size normally have professional musicians and regularly host music revival with songs, music, worship and testimony. That is why they ask this question. We often receive such requests, but we normally decline.
Such events will be presented during Wednesday worship time. Since we have relatively small congregation for Wednesday worship and do not have that many music fans who are eager to come for such event, we need to request SBC family to come to church for such event. However, SBC family are quite busy with house church meeting and Sunday worship. If they take ...

Proverbs 25:11 says: A word spoken in the right circumstances is like apples of gold in settings of silver. This verse emphasizes the importance of proper words in any given situation. Sometimes, we see that people around us will say things which are not proper for the situation, or to put someone down or slander others. By doing so, they tend to lose the favor of others. I experience this kind of situation sometimes. I understand that it is not often for church members to have a chance to talk to me and in such a rare occasion, they may say things which are not very proper or beneficial. I know they do not really mean it in such a ...

My prayer request for the 333 prayer team for the last year was 'to have better spiritual eyes and to be more sensitive toward God's voice through deeper prayer and fasting'. Last year, I thought that as of August, 2015, I would complete 3 years as senior pastor and would start the 4th year. Therefore, my prayer request reflected my desire of entering into a new deeper level of spirituality. I wanted to have a more intimate time of prayer during the Morning Prayer and wanted to have a spiritually more meaningful time during the weekly fasting rather than mechanically observing weekly fasting.
I am very grateful that many of the 333 prayer ...
