I accepted Jesus as my Lord and savior in the spring of 1993. In 1987, I started working for a Korean conglomerate. It was a dream career path for a Korean college graduate. However, a difficult situation at work turned into a crisis of my life. Someone told me, ‘If you have trouble, go before God and pray. He does not ignore our prayers.’ At that time, it was only few weeks since I started attending church. Nevertheless, I started to go dawn prayer meeting and my walk with God started. My prayer was answered exactly 1 year later, but during that time, I had ...

I subscribe to this quarterly journal called "Leadership Journal." In this issue, they are dealing with the topic of "Declutter." Bill Hybels was interviewed by two editors and they addressed the issue of simplifying your life to do all that God has called you to do. They also included an excerpt/story from the book Hybels recently wrote called "Simplify." I made copies of this and put one in each of our team leaders' mailboxes because I wanted them to read it with their wives.
In this short story, Hybels talks about how he had decided to stay home four nights a week ...

Dear Parents,
We have been studying the life of Jesus Christ with our students this semester. Over the next five weeks, kids will discover that Jesus is powerful. In today’s Bible story, Jesus showed His remarkable power over creation. After a long day of teaching, Jesus and His disciples got into a boat to cross over to the other side of the Sea of Galilee. When their short sailing trip was interrupted by a violent storm, the disciples found themselves in danger with nowhere to turn, except to the One who created all things.
The Sea of Galilee is actually a ...

The 126th Pastor’s seminar was held in city S of C country C, following the same rules and principles as that of the US. The church where the seminar was held started house churches two and half years ago and showed a very promising future. There were many powerful testimonies from shepherds and their spouses. This church does not have a kitchen so people have to prepare food and deliver it to the church. In spite of that, the joyful spirit of serving members was quite evident.
On Saturday morning, we had a question and answer session for shepherds, and I want to ...

Not long ago, my sister-in-law came to Houston for 3 weeks to see my daughter’s graduation. She suffers from eye disease called RP just like my wife. Both of them started having symptoms at around the same age and since she is three years older than my wife, I could see her and estimate the condition of my wife three years later. When I went to Korea and see her for a short time, I could not tell her level of sight impediment, but this time as we spent more time together, I could see her condition better.
She stayed in my house for 3 weeks, but as she walks toward ...

Dear Parents,
Have you ever heard a pastor say that Jesus was seeking the lost? Who is “the lost”? What does it mean to be lost? In Luke 15, Jesus told three parables to the crowd of tax collectors, sinners, Pharisees, and scribes. Jesus’ teaching brought gospel truth to the tax collectors and sinners—those whose unrighteousness separated them from God—and to the Pharisees and scribes—those whose relied on their own righteous efforts for salvation.
The first two parables are similar. In one, a man loses a sheep. He leaves his flock to find the missing ...

Dear Parents,
This week we will be teaching our students about the parable of the sower. The Gospels record dozens of Jesus’ parables. A parable is a story Jesus told to help people understand the kingdom of God. Each parable taught a lesson and revealed secrets of God’s kingdom for those who would understand. (See Matt. 13:10-13.)
The parable of the sower would have resonated with those listening because they would have been familiar with the practice of sowing or planting seed. But the parable had a deeper meaning. It contained a lesson about God’s Word and ...
