We just completed the second House Church Conference for Shepherds, held at the Swanbo Hotel in Chung-Chung Province. It was decided to have the same speakers for this conference as in the first conference held in Houston. Since all the speakers came from Seoul Baptist, many of our church members flew to Korea for the conference.
Shepherdess Myung-Hee Lee spoke at a plenary session on "Common Misunderstandings About House Church Ministries." In her talk, she shared how she had considered herself better than others simply because she had been a Christian for a long time ...

Jesus said, “Whatever you did for one of the least of these brothers of mine, you did for me.” (Matthew 25:40) If you have a heart to serve special needs children and you can make a weekly commitment, you have an opportunity to live this verse out right here at SBC.
The children’s ministry is looking for volunteers who will regularly serve as assistants for their special needs children. Many of these special needs children have been diagnosed with autism, which requires a lot of individual attention and love. The ideal candidate is someone who has had “CIA...

Next Tuesday, I'm leaving Houston for a four-week trip to Korea and Indonesia. Originally, it was meant to be a two-week trip to lead house church seminars, but several events made it necessary to lengthen it.
First, the House Church Conference for Shepherds, originally held in Houston in early August, will hold another session in Korea. It will have exactly the same format and speakers as in Houston. As one of the speakers at the first conference, I had to attend. (Starting next year, I won't have to go.)
Also, Brother Ha Ho Sung, the regional director for House Church ...

Last Sunday was the first regular worship that we had in our new facility. Even though there were some technical difficulties that we encountered during worship I was very thankful for and amazed at all the new things that we have and get to enjoy. It will take some time for us to become familiarized and get settled in our new building. So, lets be patient with each other and learn to use it well.
In order to help all of us use the facility well as Gods ...

At the church where I served before I came to Houston, there was man who had once been an active member of a well-known campus mission organization. He was married and had two kids. He was not happy with his church life, however, because he was suffering from guilt - guilt that he was not dedicated enough as a Christian.
His guilt stemmed from the high standard for committed Christians that the mission organization he belonged to set up. It was so high that only college students without families to support could reach it. It became next to impossible to live that kind of ...

New Life, you are as real as they come.
When I was in the mission field, my wife called and told me that my mother would undergo an open-heart surgery. Although I wanted to come home early upon hearing the news, I had a duty to fulfill. I wept out loud in solitude. I wanted my team to cry with me, but I kept telling myself, “I am a soldier of Christ.”
Should a soldier of Christ hold back his or her tears from the rest of the platoon while war is being raged? Should a solider of Christ stay focused on leading the platoon forward to accomplish their mission regard...

The spiritual warfare is real on the front lines of the battlefield, and you can either fight the good fight of faith or surrender and be defeated. I have seen first hand how the gospel is spreading throughout Thailand, but also the enemies are at work to counter-attack the gospel. Therefore, on the front line you can either be powerful or be powerless. The choice is yours.
I met a retired principal, Elder Choi, from Korea. He is a true spiritual warrior serving in Thailand as a missionary. He came to Chiang Mai and used his retirement fund to purchase a land deep in a ...
