Dear New Life Fellowship Family

I thank and praise God for all of you at New Life Fellowship. I have been most blessed serving here with you during the past nine years. I am deeply thankful to our God and you for blessing and showing grace to my family. I cannot begin to express all the joy I have experienced here. I am humbled by the abundant love and care that has been showered upon me. My heart is deeply sad to announce that I have submitted my resignation as missions’ pastor for New Life Fellowship, effective December 31 of this year. I feel the time has come for my family and me to follow God’s guidance to a different place to fulfill the passion and vision He has given ...

Being rich towards God

In our western culture, so many Christians have lost the heart of worship because we store up things for ourselves but not rich towards God. Many Christians are living in danger cultivating self-sufficient lifestyle that is deadly to their faith. The accumulation of wealth can be a great enemy to our spiritual life, because we would less likely to depend on God. According to Jesus, some men will go far to forfeit and exchange their souls to gain the world (Matt. 16:26). Jesus is simply addressing the senselessness of the worldly ambition. Jesus talked about a rich fool who was only rich towards himself and not towards God (Luke 12:13-21). Here are ...

Moment of Remembrance

“When the whole nation had finished crossing the Jordan, the Lord said to Joshua, “Choose twelve men from among the people, one from each tribe, and tell them to take up twelve stones from the middle of the Jordan, from right where the priests are standing, and carry them over with you and put them down at the place where you stay tonight” (Joshua 4:1-3). At the foot of the Jordan River, Joshua declared the Word of the Lord, their God. Joshua pointed out that God would drive out the seven pagan tribes so that the people would know that the Living God was among the Israelites (Joshua 3:9-11). Furthermore, we are told that God had a broader ...

Moment of Renewal

Joshua told the people, “Consecrate yourselves, for tomorrow the Lord will do amazing things among you” (Joshua 3:5). Joshua and the Israelites knew too well that paving their own path would end up in tragedy. Standing before the Jordan River, without a doubt, they wholeheartedly believed that following the path that God Himself was leading would bring utmost joy to their lives. A day before crossing the Jordan River, Joshua commanded the people to consecrate, meaning to purify themselves. Strangely, Joshua did not command the people to sharpen their weapons for war but spiritually prepare themselves. The reason for consecrating themselves is ...

Gracious words can bring healing

Do you know there are words that are like medicine to our souls? Listen to what King Solomon said, “Gracious words are a honeycomb, sweet to the soul and healing to the bones” (Prov. 16: 24). Here, gracious words are described as honeycomb because they are sweet to our souls. King Saul’s son Jonathan, when he was weary from the battle, ate some honey and his eyes became brightened, meaning the renewal of strength was gained (1 Samuel 14:27). Proverbs also uses the image of honey as wisdom, “Eat honey, my son, for it is good; honey from the comb is sweet to your taste. Know also that wisdom is sweet to your soul; if you find it, there is a ...

God displays His grace to keep us humble

"To keep me from becoming conceited because of these surpassingly great revelations, there was given me a thorn in my flesh, a messenger of Satan, to torment me." 2 Cor. 12:7 Paul refrained himself from boasting about surpassingly great revelations because, it had the potential to make him conceited. Thus, thorn in the flesh was given to Paul that was physically painful, and Satan used it to torment Paul. Notice that the thorn in the flesh was given to Paul not because Paul had moral failures but God allowed this painful hardship to take place 14 years before so that He could use Paul to reveal His power. Oftentimes we ask God to protect us from ...

His name is Jesus

God displays His incredible love by protecting and directing His people out of impossible situations. However, we tend to get hung up on the impossibilities of life and believe God cannot change our circumstances because He does not love us enough. Thus, we lose our spiritual sense to believe that God could bring life to what seems like an end. Joseph must have been filled with excitement and anticipation as he waited to wed his beloved Mary. At this joyful season in his life, he finds Mary to be with a child. Could you imagine what could have been running through his mind? His life was turned upside down, and he was ready to walk away from Mary. ...
