In a previous Pastor's Corner, I shared some of my health secrets: shaking my hands and feet in a clapping motion 200 times just before going to bed and right after getting up, drinking a large glass of water as soon as I get up in the morning, and drinking a glass of water with 2 spoonfuls of vinegar twice a day. Let me share a few more.
First, when I feel tired, I immediately lie down on my back on a mat placed on the hard floor with an eye mask and rest for 15 to 20 minutes. It's not a nap. As you know, our sleep has cycles. If we are awakened during a deep sleep ...

Our speaker today, Pastor Choi, will be joining our church as an Assistant Pastor in January. He will take over some of Pastor Sookwan Lee's current responsibilities when he becomes Senior Pastor. Pastor Choi will also be involved in the singles' ministry and will eventually take it over from Pastor Lee.
Since the position of assistant pastor involves working for our future senior pastor, I let Pastor Lee decide who to hire. I believe he made an excellent choice.
When I choose coworkers, I look for three qualities: First, are they successful in what they do? Second, do ...

Many people wonder how I handle my workload without getting sick or tired. I'm surprised by my health myself. I wasn't this healthy when I worked in the corporate world - I usually missed at least a day or two a year from sickness. However, since I became Senior Pastor of Seoul Baptist Church about 19 years ago, I've never missed preaching on a Sunday due to health, except for one Sunday after I had an appendectomy. God, who promises to take care of us when we seek first His kingdom and His righteousness, has been faithful as I've tried to live my life pursuing those two ...

One of the most important secrets of raising our children well is consistency. If there is no consistency in our parenting, our children will get confused and they will eventually learn to live their life with a double standard.
My children are basically all grown up but I still remember vividly how I tried to train them when they were toddlers and preschoolers to have proper table manners such as eating their food with their mouth closed, not standing up on their seat while they are eating, not playing with their food, not walking around during meal time or finishing ...

I'm reading "Letters By A Modern Mystic" by Frank Laubach, who was a missionary to the Philippines. He longed to live in communion with God. He was determined to not let a single minute pass without thinking about God and to ask God's permission before he did anything, including his repetitive daily routines. The letters record his experiences - how hard it is to focus on God throughout the day and the rewards he reaped when he was successful.
We may think that trying to focus on God while we're working will distract us, resulting in poor performance. But Laubach believed ...

At the end of my last trip to Korea, the board members of House Church Ministries International took a trip together. The board was created according to the bylaws passed last January. 1/3 of the board members are elected every year, so it's necessary to spend time together like this to get to know each other. We decided to have the very first meeting in Korea.
We met at Tongyeong, the birthplace of one of the board members. He had claimed that its scenery was as beautiful as the Mediterranean Sea, if not more so. We found that he wasn't exaggerating.
Besides its ...

Instead of having our annual church-wide fall retreat we will be having a revival meeting at church this year. The dates will be from Thursday, November 10 through Sunday, November 13. The speaker for the revival will be Pastor Jonathan Park who was the speaker for last year's retreat at Camp Allen.
The purpose of having a church-wide retreat once a year is for the whole church to take some time out to get away from the routines of life so that we can relax and rest together as we listen to God's messages in an extensive way. And we have certainly experienced this in ...
