From the Pastor’s Desk (301)
The Scripture tells us that the church is Jesus’ bride, Jesus’ body, and God’s family. This definition has significant implications for our lives, because who we are determines what we do.
Since the church is God’s family, we are all members of that family. Family members eat together, do life together, and serve together to provide for, protect, and build up their family.
Therefore, I would like all of us to put these important dates on our calendars and remember to participate in them accordingly as good family members. Some events apply to select family members, and some apply to everyone. The events that are italicized in bold are the ones that apply to all family members of New Life. I expect and trust all of us to remember them and participate fully.
Last year, I applied for and was selected to receive a Lilly Grant that is awarded to full-time pastors. Lilly expects the recipients to use the grant within two years. I was planning to use part of it this year; however, due to some changes in my family, I will need to use all of it next year. Therefore, about three months during the second half of the year will be used as my sabbatical. I hope to be well rested and refreshed during that time so I can return and serve more effectively with joy and passion.
Pastor Sang has finally graduated from seminary, and we are planning to hold his ordination service on Sunday afternoon, 4/26. This will be a joyful occasion not only for Pastor Sang and his family, but for our entire church family. Please mark your calendars.
Let’s pray that God will use us mightily for His kingdom purposes. And as we serve Him together, may we experience the joy of the Lord in all that we do.
