From the Pastor’s Desk (287)
We will have only one worship service at 9 AM on Sunday, May 4. This is to support our KSC, who will be using our sanctuary as an overflow space for their 11 AM worship service that day.
Before 2021, KSC had over 1,000 people attending their Sunday services. However, due to COVID-19 and other challenges they faced, their attendance dropped to around 750–800. As a result, their morale over the past four years hasn’t been very high.
However, KSC is making a concerted effort to reach out to their VIPs and grow their church again—not through transfer growth, but through conversion growth. To help accomplish this, they are planning a “VIP Invitation Rally” featuring Pastor Young G. Chai, who will deliver four messages that will be highly relevant to the VIPs the members will invite.
KSC members were asked to identify VIPs in their lives who might respond positively to an invitation. To their surprise, they came up with approximately 950 VIPs! This helped them realize there are still many people they can reach out to. Over the past couple of months, they’ve been preparing for this rally with prayer, fasting, distributing invitation cards, and even cleaning their facilities.
Pastor Lee and the deacons realistically expect around 200–300 VIPs to attend. If that happens, their sanctuary will need to accommodate about 1,000 people, which exceeds its capacity. So, I suggested they use our sanctuary as overflow space, and they are deeply grateful for New Life’s understanding and generosity.
The rally will take place at 7:30 PM on Friday and Saturday, and at 11 AM and 2 PM on Sunday. If you understand Korean, I highly encourage you to attend and listen to the messages—except Friday, when we have house church gatherings.
To support our KSC, we will have only a 9 AM worship service on Sunday, May 4. Everyone, including children and youth, will join this service. With around 500 adults, 80 youth, and 150 children, our sanctuary will be full.
After the praise time, we will take a few minutes to capture our church family photo. Please wear business casual attire for the picture. Once the photo is taken, all children below elementary school age will go to NLK for their own Sunday school.
We will provide donuts before worship, but there will be no refreshments after worship. We will do our best to finish the service by 10:30 AM so that we can vacate the sanctuary for KSC’s important event.
Your pastor,
Pastor Eric
