One of the most important secrets of raising our children well is consistency. If there is no consistency in our parenting, our children will get confused and they will eventually learn to live their life with a double standard.
My children are basically all grown up but I still remember vividly how I tried to train them when they were toddlers and preschoolers to have proper table manners such as eating their food with their mouth closed, not standing up on their seat while they are eating, not playing with their food, not walking around during meal time or finishing the food that they had asked for. When any of these things happened either at ...

Instead of having our annual church-wide fall retreat we will be having a revival meeting at church this year. The dates will be from Thursday, November 10 through Sunday, November 13. The speaker for the revival will be Pastor Jonathan Park who was the speaker for last year's retreat at Camp Allen.
The purpose of having a church-wide retreat once a year is for the whole church to take some time out to get away from the routines of life so that we can relax and rest together as we listen to God's messages in an extensive way. And we have certainly experienced this in the previous years through our retreats. Our physical bodies have been rested ...

One of the most closed countries to the Gospel in the world is North Korea. There is absolutely no freedom of worship. If you are found to be a Christ follower, you are sent to a concentration camp where you are severely persecuted and tortured. Ever since the ceasefire in 1953, the Christians all over the world especially those in South Korea and in the United States have been fervently praying for the communist regime to crumble down so that people will be free to worship. Nothing seems to have changed in the past 60 years in spite of many people’s prayers. However, God hears and remembers all of our prayers that we offer up to Him. And He ...

We had our 7th Annual House Church Seminar last week. 30 pastors and church leaders came from all over the United States but three of them were from Africa and India. Many New Life members got involved in serving them to make their stay here in Houston comfortable and beneficial. So, I would like to thank all of you for serving sacrificially in making this year’s seminar a great success which is an attempt to help churches to be more like a New Testament church.
During the seminar as I was teaching and sharing meals together I got a chance to get to know various participants. One of them noticeably stands out. He is Bishop Bahome Musomeko who ...

We had a beautiful Fall Retreat last weekend. It is one of those events that we will store in our memory treasure chest so we can bring it back out when our faith journey gets weary to remind ourselves of God’s goodness and be strengthened by it. As time passes by, however, our memory gets dim. Therefore, I would like to point out some of the things that were especially beautiful so we could savor and cherish God’s work that was done in our midst during the retreat a little longer.
The facility was beautiful. It was less than 50 miles away from church and even with some traffic on 290 I was able to get there in a little more than an hour. ...

Every week we meet for house church at people’s houses. Every house church follows the same format using the acronym H.O.U.S.E.
H (Huddle together over a meal)
O (Open hearts through ice breaker and praise)
U (Understand God’s Word)
S (Share our lives with each other)
E (Energized through vision and prayer)
Every member of a house church has at least one ministry that he/she does. Some ministries can be done by anyone whether a person is a Christ-follower or not. However, there are some that must be done only by Christ-followers. For example, anyone can host, lead ice breaker or organize social events. But only members of New Life can lead ...

Over the years I have had the privilege of officiating more than 40 weddings. At the time of these weddings, all the couples were affirmed Christ-followers except one where both the bride and the groom were not Christ-followers. The content of my message for that couple was evangelistic and the pronouncement of marriage was by the authority vested in me by the State of Texas, not in the name of the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit.
Since there will be many more weddings to come in the future here at New Life, I would like to share with you some guidelines that will be followed. First, I will not officiate any wedding where one is a Christ-fol...
