From the Pastor’s Desk (283)
Happy New Year, New Life!
I have shared this with you several times before, but in 2012, towards the end of the House Church Seminar for Pastors, I prayed to God: “God, I will do whatever You ask me to do in spreading house church ministry, as long as the invitation doesn’t conflict with New Life’s schedule.” It’s been almost 13 years since I prayed that prayer, and I believe I have been faithful to God in keeping the promise I made to Him.
This year will be a full and eventful one for our church. Please mark these important dates on your personal calendar. Do your best to be fully present for these church-wide events. Unless it’s absolutely necessary, do not make plans to travel. And please resist the temptation to take spur-of-the-moment trips just because you have extra money or PTO to use. I urge you, please don’t. Also, I would greatly appreciate it if you could follow my travel schedule and pray for me to stay healthy and be used effectively by God.
Some of these events are designed for your own spiritual growth. When God’s people gather in one place with one heart to experience Him, He always shows up. He touches our hearts and grants us the grace we need to be strengthened in our walk with Him. Why wouldn’t He?
Other events are intended to build up pastors and lay leaders who will be coming to New Life from all over the world. We are the hosts and servants for these occasions, and it is our responsibility to stay, serve, and love the people God entrusts to us.
Let’s pray that God will use us mightily for His kingdom purposes. And as we serve Him together, may we experience the joy of the Lord in all that we do.
