From the Pastor’s Desk (135)
I have three older sisters and one younger brother. In the culture that I grew up, it is customary for the first son to take the major responsibility of taking care of the aging parents. Knowing this, I had approached my parents several times in the past asking them to come down to Houston to live near us. But, each time they responded to me by saying, “You are in full-time ministry, and we don’t know when God will lead you to another place. And when that happens, we will need to uproot ourselves and move again. We would rather stay where we are with the people and surroundings that we are familiar with.”
It seems through much prayer, searching the Scripture, and sharing with others, Pastor Jaemo and Julie have come to realize that God is guiding them to fulfill a new vision. Their last day with us will be Sunday, August 3. This is just the nature of full-time ministry! When God leads, pastors must follow.
Pastor Jaemo has been with us for the past four years, and he has done a great job of laying down the foundation for our children’s ministry by equipping the volunteers and teaching the children to love God and His Word. So, Pastor Jaemo, on behalf of New Life, I want to say, “Thank you! We pray that God will use you and your family to fulfill His greater purpose!”
We know that God is sovereign and His love for His church never fails. And, through all this, we are certain that God will be glorified. The Parks will be greatly missed. We have about five more weeks with the Parks, so we will not say “good bye” to them as of yet. Instead, I would greatly appreciate it if our JCS core members, volunteers and parents could do their best to make the transition as smooth as possible with much prayer under the guidance of Pastor Jaemo.
I regret that this “From the Pastor’s Desk” had to come out when I am away from the church. But for the sake of the church, I thought it would be best for you to be informed about it as soon as possible.
Your pastor,
Pastor Eric
