From the Pastor’s Desk (274)
When God spoke and convicted me about my less than passionate heart towards our House Church Seminar for Pastors in 2012, I repented and responded back to him by saying, “God, I am so sorry for not taking this House Church Seminar for Pastors seriously. Going forward, as long as outside invitations for speaking engagements don’t conflict with my already penciled in church schedule, I will go anywhere to do whatever you want me to do to help pastors and churches understand the New Testament church and do it well.”
It’s been more than 10 years since I prayed that prayer. And I think I have been faithful in keeping my promise to God.
So, when I get an invitation to speak at a church that is doing house church or wants to launch house church, I first look at my old school desktop church calendar in my office to see if there is anything that has been scheduled already. If there isn’t, and if there isn’t any conflict with my family’s major events, I always say “yes” to the invitation to keep my promise to God regardless of the size of the church.
I would like to share with you my schedule that is related to outside speaking engagements or out of town ministry as well as some of my personal ones.
May 13-20
I am currently serving as a board member for House Church Ministry International (HCMI). The board members meet quarterly, and we meet in person for one of those meetings. We rotate the meeting place from the US, to Korea, and to Australia. For this year, it will be in Korea. My wife and I will be participating in the board meeting from May 13 to May 16.
May 21-26
Just like we have our House Church Conference for Pastors for their continuing education on house church ministry, Korea has it, too. And it will be shortly after the board meeting. We are advised to attend the conference this time because we have never experienced it before and since we will be there in Korea anyway due to the board meeting. The conference will be held in Pyeongchang, Korea.
May 27-31
My first son, Enoch, had ACL surgery a few weeks ago in Japan. He is there by himself, rehabbing and working at the same time. We are planning to stop by Kobe, Japan, for a few days to spend time with him to help and encourage him.
June 10-20
A few men from New Life are taking me to Korea to celebrate my 60th birthday. I am grateful.
June 22-29
As soon as I return from Korea, I will be going to New Mexico Mission Trip with youth and adult volunteers to get to know the place and ministry better.
July 19-22
Retreat speaking at Bridge Koinonia Church in Charlotte, NC
September 9-13
House Church Conference for Pastors in San Mateo, CA
September 18-October 3
I will be in Maui for two weeks serving at Maui Onnuri Church. This is the church that I went to a couple of years ago to speak at their revival meeting. The pastor couple wants to do a two-week internship at our KSC and needed someone who can serve at their church ministering to both Korean-speaking and English-speaking members. He reached out to me since I am one of the few pastors who can serve in both languages and have relationships with their members. Please come and visit during those dates!
Please put these dates on your calendar and pray for me and Lynette to be used by God as His instruments in building up Christ’s church Christ’s way.
Your pastor,
Eric
