From the Pastor’s Desk (298)
We just completed our Fall Retreat with about 800 adults, college and youth students, and children attending at Camp Allen, which is probably the most beautiful retreat center in Texas. Everything went so smoothly, and everyone was blessed in so many ways. This is what happens when Christ’s church functions the way it was intended, according to the Bible—with everyone doing his or her part joyfully, gratefully, and skillfully in response to the grace shown to us through Christ and His finished work on the cross. When everyone contributes, ministry becomes easy, and no one gets burned out.
Pastor David Larry Kim is a tremendous preacher, and I thank God for his heart and passion for the Lord and His church.
Our Maturity Team, led by Edward Tian, was just incredible. They were so proactive and forward-thinking in their preparation for the retreat. They served joyfully, meticulously, and sacrificially for the good of the church.
Our Magnification Team, led by Gus Rajaendran, was superb—truly Spirit-filled and Spirit-led. The song selection, PowerPoint, sound, and photography were all done beautifully to help the church focus on the beauty of the Lord.
Our NLK, led by Pastor Mia and her team, was phenomenal. Every parent served one session for the children while the adult worship service was taking place, and several single volunteers also served with joy and gladness. Because of their loving and sacrificial ministry, all the parents were able to worship and hear God’s Word.
Our Membership Team, led by Jonathan Lee, as usual, prepared all the Sunday bulletins and greeted the church at the sanctuary doors with smiles on their faces. Faithfulness and a responsible spirit come to mind when I think about this team.
And how can I forget our KSC members who prepared six amazingly delicious meals in their church kitchen in Houston, delivered them, and served over 300 members who stayed at the campsites—those who had bunk beds and couldn’t eat at the main dining hall due to capacity limits? Those who stayed at the campsites truly had a wonderful time this year!
I am so thankful for all New Life members who do their best to follow their flawed pastor—who often functions less like a pastor and more like a drill sergeant because of the love and concern he has for his beloved members. My one and only desire for them is that they would hear Jesus say, “Good and faithful servant!” on that final day.
I love New Lifers.
Your pastor,
Eric
