It happened again. I got to the point where I looked at myself in the mirror and said to my reflection, “I have to do something about this weight!” I can’t remember how many times I’ve done this in my life. On some occasions, I actually went through with it and saw incredible results. But usually, it would be a temporary moment of frustration followed by more unhealthy eating habits and lack of exercise.
Well, this time around, I’m doing okay at least when it comes to eating better. Yes, it’s only been a week, but hey, that’s progress. I’ve decided for now to cut out the big three C’s for me: Chips, Cookies, and Cola. I’m actually not too weak when it comes to cookies, but cookies basically represent all dessert items, including Ice Cream. It’s a start.
The exercise question is another issue I’m trying to work out (no pun intended). Basically, with baby George at home and responsibilities at church, I’m finding it harder to hit the gym and actually use my expensive membership. I’m sure I’ll figure something out soon. In the meantime, I’m working on the food part, which I’ve heard is 80% of losing weight.
I’m trying this again because I realize three things. First, that I have failed to honor God with the body He’s given me and getting into shape is practical repentance. Second, I need to be healthy so that I’ll be around for a long time for Gina and our family. Third, I am your youth pastor and as such, I should be a much better example in this area.
